Frequently Asked Questions During the 9 Week Chautauqua Season
1. Do I need a gate pass to get into Chautauqua?
Yes, a gate pass is required for all adults, and children over the age of 12. Remember, this is only for the 9 week Chautauqua Season.
2. Where do I park my car?
If your rental has on-site parking, consider yourself lucky! You still have to purchase a parking pass, but it is not much more than the cost of the Main Lot parking. If your rental does not have on-site parking, you will park your car across from the Main Gate, in the Main Lot, for an additional fee.
3. What is included in my rental?
Sheets for the beds, towels for the baths(not beach towels), toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, hand soap, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent(if applicapable), and garbage bags.
4. What if I get sick during my stay?
There is a small walk-in medical clinic right next to the Amphitheater on Roberts Avenue.
5. Where do we buy groceries?
There is a Tops Grocery store in Mayville. From the main gate, you turn right and three miles down on the right is Tops.
Lighthouse Groceries, a small speciality meat market, is out the main gate to the right, about 2 miles on the right.
Wegman's, a larger grocery store, is out the main gate to the left, about 14 miles. Definitely worth the trip is you are looking for any variety items.
Super Walmart is out the main gate to the left, about 13 miles. Sam's Club is out the main gate to the left, about 15 miles, on the left.
6. Are there any restaurants on the grounds?

7. When is check-out? Check-in?
9 Week Chautauqua Season: Check-out is at 10:00am, based on gate passes. Check-in is technically 4:00pm, but we do our best to accommodate early arrivals. If you don't mind leaving your luggage on the porch while we finish cleaning, we don't mind your early arrival. This is your vacation and the sooner it starts, the better!
Off Season: Check-in is usually anytime you'd like. Please call if you'll be arriving before 3:00pm. Check-out is usally anytime, just verify with us that your room is not rented the following night.
8. What if I want to purchase property in Chautauqua?

10. I need a scooter during my stay and don't want to bring mine from home. Can I rent one?
Yes, there are scooter rentals at the main gate. Simply call 716-357-6200 to reserve one.
11. Are there a work-out facilities in Chautauqua Instituion?
Yes! Turner Community Center houses Chautauqua Health and Fitness Center, open year around.
12. Is there an indoor swimming pool in Chautauqua?
Yes! Chautauqua Health and Fitness has an indoor pool.
